Do you know the difference between Microsoft 365 and Office 365 ? Originally, Office 365 was the name of Microsoft's Office applications cloud (e.g. Office applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and services (SharePoint, OneDriveMicrosoft Teams) and Microsoft 365 was a set including Office 365, Windows 10 and Enterprise Mobility and Security Products.
However, recently Microsoft has renamed some features from Office 365 to Microsoft 365, e.g. "Groups Office 365" will become "Groups Microsoft 365". Even if you just use "Office 365".
What are the concrete changes?
For users, these name changes which came into effect on 21 April 2020 had no real impact, it was simply a name change, with businesses continuing to benefit from the same applications for the same price.
If we go into a little more detail about these changes, we can see that this is a real restructuring of the Microsoft Offers.
Now that the term Office has disappeared, it is time to talk about applications Microsoft 365.
- Office 365 ProPlus is now Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise - for large companies
- Office 365 Business becomes Microsoft 365 Apps for business - for SMEs
For the time being, business offers are not really impacted as only the Office 365 applications have been renamed and the Office 365 E1 E3 E5 F1 A1 A3 A5 G1 G3 G5 subscriptions are not affected. But changes should follow.
