A single use case can be implemented in four different ways. It’s your data, your deadlines, and your requirements that determine the best approach—not what we know how to sell: we present all four options, and that’s what allows us to advise you on your specific challenges.
At Microsoft
Data and inference are processed in the appropriate Microsoft services: Microsoft 365, Copilot, Azure. The fastest to set up when the data is already there.
At your facility
The model, documents, and calculations run on your datacenter. Nothing is sent out. This architecture also requires the most maintenance.
Partly at Microsoft, partly at your office
Identity, " Teams ," and the interface at Microsoft; sensitive data, document search, or inference on your premises. The most common scenario in practice.
Next to the machine
Processing takes place near the camera, sensor, or production line: in a factory, warehouse, store, or remote location. Decisions are made on-site, with or without a connection.

From the business requirement to the machine that executes it
