Initial situation
The customer had Unify's OpenScape UC telephony solution in place.
This solution posed numerous problems, particularly in terms of quality, outages and recurrent crashes. In addition, there was no support for users during the implementation of this solution.
This led to general dissatisfaction among users and to the rejection of the solution.
In addition, the previous migration had not been finalised and there were still components of the N-1 telephony system in production, which added technical complexity.
Goal
The client wanted to implement a modern, innovative and scalable unified communication and collaboration solution.
The Microsoft solution Skype for Business was chosen to meet these needs.
Concept
Our role was to manage the implementation of this solution in the client's environment, ensuring that migration was implemented in the best possible conditions.
One of the other major challenges of this project was to ensure that the solution met the needs of the end-users and to put in place the necessary support for them to adopt this new tool.
This required good internal communication as well as training, user documentation and explanatory leaflets.
In addition, the client had many points of sale and could not afford to be unreachable due to a server failure.
Following this constraint, a pool of 4 Front End servers, 2 Back End servers and 2 Edge servers was set up to fully meet the need for continuity. These servers were distributed over two sites to ensure the necessary continuity in the event of a site failure.
Result
Migration Successful, low impact: Thanks to good user support and close monitoring of the project and migration, the entire migration solution Skype for Business solution went smoothly. There was a very limited impact on the users' work and no impact on the end customers.
Standardisation: The migration on the solution Skype for Business solution has also helped to reduce exceptions and standardise users.
User satisfaction: A satisfaction survey was carried out at the end of migration and more than 95% of the users questioned were satisfied with the new tool. The success of this project was also praised by the client's management.
