Infrastructure / Telephony / AudioCodes and Microsoft Teams

Telephony in Microsoft Teams goes beyond just software.

AudioCodes, Gold Partner.

Activating licenses is the easy part. What takes time is ensuring that everything continues to function the next day: service numbers, analog devices, and a branch office that must remain reachable even if its connection goes down. That’s where “ AudioCodes ” equipment comes in, and that’s the work we’re doing with you.

Certified by Microsoft Eleven AudioCodes devices are included in Microsoft’s list of validated controllers for direct connection to Microsoft Teams.
Emergency numbers included Certified models transmit the caller's location, which is rarely verified before the device is put into service.
We also implement Ribbon Our ability to install both product lines allows us to advise you based on your specific requirements—not just based on a single catalog.

Three things that need to work the next day

These aren't options. In each of these three cases, something stops working the day the phone service is transferred to Microsoft Teams without anyone being asked.

01

Devices that can't connect

An elevator phone, a building alarm system, a building gate, or a fax machine operate on analog lines. They cannot be registered in Microsoft Teams, and most are subject to regulations that prohibit their removal.

They are the ones who decide on the architecture.

02

A location that must remain accessible

When telephone service is hosted off-site, an internet outage also cuts off the phone service. In a factory, a healthcare facility, or a remote office, this consequence is unacceptable.

Continuity is planned during installation.

03

The emergency call and the address provided

An emergency call must be routed from the location where it was made, not from the corporate headquarters. For a company with multiple locations, this setting must be configured in advance; it cannot be set up on the spot on the day the system goes live.

That's the last thing we check—or sometimes, we never check it at all.

Four Concrete Benefits of the Equipment AudioCodes

The Mediant product line covers a wide range of sizes, from a single-branch system to a large-scale software installation. What varies from one model to another is the capacity; the four functions, however, are identical.

Connection

Connect Your Carrier Line to Microsoft Teams

The device acts as a bridge between your carrier's network and your Microsoft environment. It handles differences in number formats and protocols that two otherwise compliant devices might interpret differently.

Continuity

Continue the call when the connection drops

The equipment takes over and routes calls from the site during a connection outage or when the hosted service is unavailable. Internal calls and emergency numbers remain accessible.

Analog

Keep devices that cannot be replaced

Analog ports allow you to keep an elevator phone, an alarm, or a fax machine by connecting them to the same system as the rest. They can still make and receive calls.

Media Path

Keep the voice as close as possible to the listeners

The audio stream can take the shortest path rather than always routing back to the hosted service. For a company with multiple locations, this has a direct impact on perceived quality.

Before choosing equipment

Microsoft Teams : Four Possible Connections

Microsoft calling plans, Operator ConnectTeams Phone Mobile, and direct connection: only one of these four requires equipment on your premises. We make this determination in the first step, before any purchase is made, and sometimes we conclude that no equipment is necessary.

How We Manage the Project

There are four steps, and the second one determines the design. It takes place before the estimate is prepared, because it’s this step that determines whether equipment is needed, what kind, and how much.

01

What Your Phone System Needs to Keep Doing

Important phone numbers, office hours, groups that play together, and cross-references. Nothing technical: these are the things that absolutely must not change for your contacts.

What You'll Receive The list of numbers and services to be transferred Current schedules and routes
02

A Record of What Must Survive Change

Every device connected to the current network, including those that no one thinks to count: elevators, gates, alarms, fax machines, payment terminals, and production machinery. Then, location by location, identify what must remain accessible in the event of an outage.

This survey determines the model and number of units. It is conducted before the estimate is prepared, never after.

What You'll Receive A list of devices and their uses Deployments that require local continuity The selected model, and why this one
03

Commissioning and Testing

Installation, connection to your service provider's line and your Microsoft environment, migration of analog devices, and configuration of the location for emergency calls.

Then the actual tests: we cut off the connection to a location while someone is on the phone, and we see what happens.

What You Receive The installation, configured and documented Test report, including shutdown
04

The sequence of numbers, by groups

The numbers change in groups, with a return route prepared at each stage. The old system remains accessible until all numbers have been processed.

What You Need to Know Before Making a Decision

Four questions that come up in every project, along with our answers— even when they don’t go our way.

Do you really need equipment?

Often, no. If your carrier participates in the program Operator Connect, if there are no analog devices left, and if a temporary service interruption is acceptable, the other connection methods are simpler and less expensive to operate.

We’ll let you know in Step 02, in writing. A system that nobody needs costs money to buy and then to maintain every year.

AudioCodes Is this my carrier?

No, and this is a common source of confusion. AudioCodes is an authorized partner in the Microsoft program that helps carriers build their own offerings Operator Connect. It doesn't sell you phone lines or minutes.

Your carrier remains your carrier. What the equipment changes is how your line connects to Microsoft Teams.

What if we're still on Skype for Business ?

Skype for Business Server Extended support for the 2019 version ended on October 15, 2025, and AudioCodes no longer mentions it anywhere in its catalog. The issue is no longer about connecting to it, but about moving away from it.

Equipment that is already installed Skype for Business doesn’t necessarily need to be replaced: we first check whether that version can do what Microsoft Teams requires.

Who takes care of it once it's set up?

Connection equipment requires ongoing maintenance: software versions, certificates, and changes to Microsoft services. An expired certificate can cut off phone service without warning.

AudioCodes provides a monitoring console that tracks perceived call quality. Your teams can use it—and we’ll train them on how—and we can also monitor its use.

AudioCodes and Microsoft Teams

Let's start with the inventory.

What's currently in use, and what needs to remain accessible in the event of an outage. These two assessments determine the architecture— including when they conclude that you don't need any equipment at all.

Three offices in French-speaking Switzerland: Renens, Sion , and Châtel-Saint-Denis. What we offer is the opportunity to meet the engineers who will do the work.

The Test Nobody Takes

End the call during a call

Not outside of business hours, not on a test environment. On the actual system, with someone on the phone, and checking to see if the connection holds.

That's the only way to know what local continuity is worth, and we're doing it together with you.
