Microsoft recently announced the general availability (GA) of Microsoft Entra Permissions Management, formerly CloudKnox, as part of the Microsoft Entra portfolio. Permissions Management is available today as a standalone solution, priced at $125 USD per resource per year. Supported resources include compute resources, container clusters, serverless functions and databases on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. Let's dive into some of the product's features and updates.
Manage permissions for any identity, on any cloud, with a unified platform
Microsoft Entra Permissions Management enables organizations to discover, remediate and monitor permissions for all identities (human and workload) and resources in multi-cloud environments. By continuously monitoring permission usage, Permissions Management enables you to apply the principle of least privilege at scale at cloud using historical data so your organization can improve its security posture without interrupting productivity.
- Find out: Gain granular visibility into every action taken by every identity, on every resource, and assess your authorization risk and monitor permissions granted against permissions used.
- Correct: Close the authorisation gap by applying the principle of least privilege based on actual usage, leveraging our on-demand authorisation workflow when additional authorisations are required.
- Monitor: Continuously monitor all activities to detect abnormal use of authorisations and generate detailed forensic reports to facilitate rapid investigation and correction.
New streamlined integration and monitoring capabilities
As part of the GA release, Microsoft is introducing a new automated approach to integrating your AWS, Azure and GCP environments for authorization management. With a simplified workflow, you can efficiently collect authorization data across large-scale clouds with just a few clicks.
To kick off their integrations with their Microsoft portfolio, users can now monitor their permission creep index and access permission management directly from their Defender for Cloud dashboard, extending the protection of Defender for Cloud with CIEM.
This is just the beginning! Microsoft is actively expanding their integrations and features and they are starting to roll them out later this year. To learn more about the GA release, check out the documentation on permission management.
