Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 provides manageability as part of the design and implementation of Windows Server System technologies. MOM 2005 helps simplify identification of issues, streamlines the process for determining the root cause of the problem, and facilitates quick resolution to restore services and to prevent potential IT problems.

eXc Software enhanced the functionnalities in MOM by allowing the monitoring of non-Windows devices and by providing connectors to other monitoring systems.

Non-Windows devices monitoring

Microsoft provides a lot of Management Packs, to import into MOM, for the monitoring of Windows Servers (DNS, Active Directory, Exchange, ...).
eXc Software is an add-on of MOM that allows the monitoring of non-Windows devices like Unix systems (Linux, HP-UX, ...), networking devices (Cisco, 3Com, ...), storage systems (EMC, HP Storage, ...), hardware system (HP Insight Manager, Dell Open Manage, ...).
Each type of devices is monitored by agent called virtual agent. eXc Software provides more than 70 different virtual agents.

Connectors to other monitoring systems

If your enterprise already has a monitoring system like IBM Tivoli, CA Unicenter, HP-OV, ... and you want to connect it to your MOM infrastructure, eXc Software provides different types of connectors.
